My first thought is that Sapphire is harder than glass = less scratches/wear generally. Well, sapphire is crystal, and extremely hard. You're more likely to scratch things you hit with it than for it to scratch. I've scratched everything GG I've ever owned eventually, but I don't even worry about my 5 Plus sapphire.
