I own a 2010 Q5 3.0 tdi. Also hearing a winding sound connected to engine speed starting around 1800rpm. Decided to replace the fanbelt and tensioner and I think 3 pulleys. While the nose is off, I'm going to replace the water pump and the fuel pump belt with its tensioner. Haven't worked on a car for ages.
Hello everyone! I have the same issue as OP described. 2014 Audi A6 TDI (U.S. Spec 3.0TDI) and it has the chain rattle mostly when hot; I very rarely hear it on a cold start. I too am wondering if this is covered under the extended warranty, or if the chain stretches too far if they'll cover the engine damage. Replace Every 90,000 kilometers Only: A6 45 TFSI Spark plugs - Replace Every 45,000 kilometers or 3 years, whichever occurs first Only: RS 3, S6, S7, A8 L 60 TFSI, S8 LWB, SQ7, SQ8, RS Q8, TT RS Spark plugs - Replace Every 60,000 kilometers or 6 years, whichever occurs first Only: S3, A4 40 TFSI, A4 45 TFSI, A4 allroad® 45 TFSI, S4,Water separator in fuel filter: Remove water (Audi A3 TDI and Q7 TDI models) Windshield washer and headlight washing system - Add fluid if necessary. Check adjustment and function Wiper blades - Check condition and replace if necessary Additional item at 8,000 km or 1 year after delivery, whichever occurs first. Rotate tires. Reset TPMS
