I have both Inov-8 x talon 260 and the VJ ultra first version. The VJ doesn’t have a rock plate and you can feel every sharp rock on your run. I always raced in Inov-8 260 on technical ultras, but I had a problem at the 2022 Killington race on the first descent. It was terrible on wet rocks that I ate it twice in a half mile descent.
