Therich lustre of an enamel dial is simply unrivalled by other dial types, either made by hand or by machines. There’s a real sense of craftsmanship in these dials, which becomes tangible when handling the Model 1 and Model 2. With the Model 2 MKII, anOrdain decided to drop the transparent enamel dials and offer only opaque ones.
MovementWatch #1 - Grand Seiko. by Chris Roussias - October 23, 2018. The opportunity to see and handle some flagship - and limited edition - Grand Seiko watches came about thanks to Redbar Glasgow, who held a recent event hosted by James Porter & Son in Argyll Arcade.. My primary interest in attending the event was the chance to see
TheModel 1 with Glasgow-made fumĂ© enamel dial, seen here in Blue. anOrdain developed this painstaking technique over several years, refining it recently to exaggerate its smoky effect and add more depth to the outer perimeter. Outside of Switzerland and Japan, we’re one of the only watchmakers in the world producing enamel dials in-house. Itfeatures a sunburst pattern – common enough, but normally achieved in a machine process that involves spinning and brushing the dial. Our sunburst, however, has been hand-engraved: every minuscule score (around 1,120 of them) radiating from the centre is cut individually by hand. This is then layered up with coloured transparent enamel. Anexcellent write-up on your AnOrdain Model 2 Grey. I have to say, the 36mm with the 43 lug-to-lug width fits perfectly on your wrist. But what I find intriguing about the AnOrdain Model 2 model is the casing itself. For it seems to have a solid look to it. Here's to enjoying your AnOrdain years down the road.
TheG100 is a little more expensive than the ETA 2824, but it’s a very well made piece, with twice the power reserve. This change will be reflected in our prices, although we’re hoping to offer a hand-wound version too (with the Sellita SW210), which should be slightly less expensive than the current model with the ETA movement.

Theyre aren't all that many models to choose from in the anOrdain oeuvre: you had the original Model 1, then the field watch-inspired Model 2, followed by a slight redesign of the Model 1 into a svelte-(r) case. Now, however, anOrdain's jacked up the interest factor by adding an intriguing feature to said watch: a fumé dial.
