It all depends how much you care about your bike and how long you plan to keep it. I just got a 2013 Honda Phantom, changed the oil @ 5 miles with amsoil formula 4-stroke. plan to change it again @ 300 miles, then 600 miles, then every 1000 miles after that. I plan on keeping the bike indefinitely, so it gets only the best. However, the top of Honda’s 750 line-up is the retro classic 750 Aero. Under the Arrows classic 14 liter fuel tank you’ll find a liquid-cooled fuel-injected 745 CC long stroke v-twin powerplant that is fed by a single 34 mm throttle body to help maximize combustion of each cylinders.
a rebel is a light commuter bike. its no good for the freeway ( at least in tx and ca where the bulk of my riding is) . it might do it but you'll have the throttle wide open for a while before you'll hit 70. the shadow is decent for a commuter bike that requires freeway capabilities but is underpowered for long trips, but its doable.. liability
The 600 is more an around town fun machine or beginners bike, it's weight and seat height make for a pretty comfortable ride right out of the box. And you can chop the shit out of them to make it look like anything you want. The 750 is a good strong bike, but it's not near as solid on the road at speed as the larger 1100 obviously.

2001 Honda Shadow 750 Spirit. Considering this as a first bike. A guy I work with is selling his. It's a 2001 Honda Shadow 750 Spirit with 8,500. It has a windscreen and saddle bags. He says all it needs is an oil change, he hasn't done it only because he bought a new bike. He wants $2,000 for it.

An 1100 is not necessarily too big for a beginner, just have to take it easy to start and make sure it fits you physically. The newer cruisers are all pretty low on the seat, so shorter people can reach the ground easier on them. Sit on some, test how they fit (move the handlebars side to side fully, put your feet on the pegs, etc) at minimum. 5473 posts Ā· Joined 2012. #8 Ā· Nov 13, 2013. Poor starting even in cold weather, is an indication of a problem. The proper procedure should work even in very cold weather: Full choke No throttle. It sounds like a carb adjustment problem but may be plugs or dirty air filter.
Image via RideApart.. Honda Shadow Phantom 750. Don’t be surprised by how big and long this bike looks at first glance. The Honda Shadow Phantom 750 is surprisingly light for a bike of its size (only 549 lbs!) and its 745cc liquid-cooled V-twin uses a programmed fuel-injection system to help it perform throughout its rev range.
